Maximilian Marcoll was
born in Lübeck in 1981. At the academy of music in Lübeck he
studied percussion from 1992 – 97,
composition from 1997 to 2001 with F. Döhl and D. Reith. From 2001
to 2006 he studied composition in Essen with T. Neuhaus, D. Hahne and G. Steinke. Masterclasses with L. Berio et
al. 1999 he founded the ensemble for contemporary music in
Lübeck and was its leader until 2001.
In 2002 Marcoll started to do laptop improvisation performances and to
develop software. Also in 2002 he
founded the electronics-duo dis.playce with H. Seidl.
Since 2005 the works of dis.playce are released by the german label NAIVSUPER.
He got a folkwang promotion reward in 2005 and the Franz-Liszt-Förderpreis, Weimar 2006.
Since 2007 he teaches at the Institute for Music And Media of the Robert Schumann Hochschule in Düsseldorf and at the Musikschule Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg. Maximilian Marcoll lives in Berlin.
